Palm Springs Airport cautious about spending $2 billion for expansion plan
""With the City Council's approval, PSP takes another bold step forward, ensuring it remains not only a gateway for travelers but a source of pride for the communities we serve.""
""We are well aware that there is demand in our community for true international flights," airport spokesperson Jake Ingrassia told SFGATE."
The Palm Springs Airport is set to undergo a $2 billion renovation approved by the City Council in January 2025. This expansion is in response to rising passenger traffic, with projections estimating numbers could reach 6.4 million annually by 2042. The project will include a new rental car center, up to 14 new gates, and runway improvements. A new customs facility for international travelers is expected to be completed by 2028, allowing for direct flights from Latin America and Europe.
