Donald Pliner, founder of a footwear and accessory brand established in 1989, and his wife Lisa, who launched her signature collection two years prior, acquired a French-influenced Bel-Air residence for $4.26 million. The 7,600-square-foot home features a two-story foyer, step-down living room, library, family room with bar, formal dining room, den, projection room, island kitchen, four fireplaces, and five bedrooms plus a half-bath. The property was previously owned by Jean Webb Vaughan Smith, a member of the Reagan inner circle and national president of the Association of Junior Leagues, who died at age 93 earlier that year. The home last sold in 1994 for $1.8 million.
