Actor Dan Amboyer celebrates 18 years with his man, Eric P. Berger - Queerty
"It was a hard decision to figure out how to approach it in a public way," Amboyer continued. "There are some actors out there now who just keep it as an unspoken aspect of their life and never discuss it in public. But then there are men like Matt Bomer and Zachary Quinto. I look up to them and see how them being so open affected other people and the country's perception of gay people."
"Being a young actor in the industry, I had a lot of people who strongly advised me to stay quiet. That was hard to live with. But I've never played a gay role before and I didn't want to be limited by some strange perception."
"18 years a couple today. 🫶👯 "
Dan Amboyer, 40, is known for roles on Uncoupled, Dynasty, Younger and the spinoff The Blacklist: Redemption and recently played Peppermint's love interest on Netflix's Survival of the Thickest. Amboyer has extensive theatre credits including a dozen off-Broadway and regional productions. Amboyer and partner Eric Philip Berger, a financial advisor, marked 18 years together and shared Instagram photos including their children, Teddy and Phoebe. Amboyer publicly came out in 2017 when announcing his marriage after 11 years together. Amboyer described industry pressure to stay quiet, praised openly gay actors like Matt Bomer and Zachary Quinto, and said greater openness can reduce stigma.
