Valve removed the card game Flick Solitaire from Steam in Russia after Roskomnadzor demanded its removal under Russia's "LGBTQ+ propaganda" laws. The game remains available on phone storefronts and expands classic Solitaire with new modes and dozens of custom cards from 63 artists. Several decks feature LGBTQ+ themes and artwork by artists such as Queer Chameleon, Ego Rodriguez, and Karin Hammarsten. Valve sent a letter criticizing Flick Games for failing to inform Valve about territories where distribution is restricted. Flick Games said the removal occurred without prior notice and expressed heartbreak for affected Russian players and artists. Russia's law, expanded in 2022, bans LGBTQ+ representation for all ages and carries fines up to 400,000 rubles and possible prison penalties.
