London Pride parade boss probed over bullying and misuse of funds' allegations

Joell-Deshields, who became CEO in 2021, is on leave amid allegations including harassment, bullying, misuse of gifts or company funds, and breaches of bullying, harassment and finance policies. Rebecca Paisis, director of events, has been appointed interim CEO. Joell-Deshields said he remains in his CEO and director roles and stated legal and governance matters relate to the organisation and are being addressed through appropriate channels, denying any admission of wrongdoing. Volunteer directors and others have alleged a toxic culture and reported inappropriate WhatsApp comments to a disabled volunteer. Pride in London receives a City Hall five-year grant up to 625,000 and also raises funds independently. July's parade was headlined by Chaka Khan and attended by Sadiq Khan and Olly Alexander.

According to a leaked copy of the whistleblowing disclosure, the newspaper said he is facing a series of allegations from volunteer directors and others that include misappropriation or misuse of gifts or company funds, behaviour damaging or potentially damaging to the company's reputation, harassment or bullying of personnel and a serious breach of bullying, harassment and finance policies. Pride in London is financed by a City Hall five-year grant up to 625,000 as well as its own fundraising.
