Snoop Dogg "Scared to Go to Movies" Due to LGBTQ+ Representation in Kids Films
"I didn't come in for this shit. I just came to watch the goddamn movie,"
"fucked me up. I'm like, scared to go to the movies. Y'all throwing me in the middle of shit that I don't have an answer for... It threw me for a loop."
"We have to show that at this age? They're going to ask questions. I don't have the answer."
"The goal is that we can get to a point where it is the norm, and that this doesn't have to be some uncharted waters, that eventually this is just the way it is"
Snoop Dogg objected to LGBTQ+ representation in children's films after taking his grandson to a screening of Pixar's Lightyear and seeing a main character raised by a lesbian couple. His grandson asked how two women could have a baby, and Snoop reported feeling unprepared to answer, describing the experience as upsetting and disorienting. He stated that LGBTQ+ themes do not belong in movies for young children and expressed concern about being forced into difficult questions. Lightyear included Disney/Pixar's first same-sex kiss and generated internal studio controversy. Actor Chris Evans advocated for normalization of such representation. Snoop also performed at Donald Trump's Inauguration Crypto Ball earlier in the year.
