"If no one takes it over, we do have plans to be back in April 2027, Hanson says."
"I felt it was important to create a space and a platform for our community to live out loud, all while setting the stage for us to transcend isms, Hanson says - racism, sexism, and more."
"If a queer woman wants to bring a friend who's a cis man, we're OK with that, she says."
Since 1991 thousands of queer women and allies have gathered annually in Palm Springs for The Dinah, a women-centric series of pool parties, entertainment, and community affirmation. Mariah Hanson, the event creator and producer, is seeking to sell the event to another producer while indicating plans to return in April 2027 if no buyer emerges. The event began around an April women’s pro golf tournament named for Dinah Shore but has evolved independently. The Dinah emphasizes inclusion, welcomes transgender and nonbinary people and occasional cisgender men, celebrates femalecentrism, and features themed pool parties, nightclubs, a ball, and celebrity appearances.
