King stated that if she were gay, she would say so and that there was nothing wrong with it, adding that she preferred men. She described conflict with Oprah over how to handle the rumors, saying she wanted Oprah to address them on national television because it made it hard for her to get dates. She said Oprah believed the best approach was to leave the matter alone.
