A honeymoon photo album posted on Facebook was used as evidence to defeat a €120,000 personal-injury claim. The couple, Arthur McInerney and MaryMarie McCarthy, faced cross-examination by defence barrister Conor Kearney, who produced their honeymoon photos in the Circuit Civil Court. The photographic evidence undermined their claims and led both claimants to withdraw their individual €60,000 damage claims. The judge overseeing the case was James O'Donohoe. The defence successfully used social-media content to rebut the assertion of injuries and to prevent the award of the sought damages.
