"CAT BROOKS is co-founder and executive director of Anti-Police Terror Project and Justice Teams, host of Law & Disorder on KPFA,and a long-time performer, organizer, and activist. She played a central role in the struggle for justice for Oscar Grant, finished second in the 2018 Oakland mayoral election, and has spent the last decade and a half working with impacted communities and families to rapidly respond to police violence and radically transform the ways our communities are organized and cared for."
Dean Preston and Cat Brooks will speak at the 12th Annual 48 Hills Community Gala and 2025 Best of the Bay Winners' Celebration on Wednesday, October 22, 6–9pm at El Rio in the Mission. The event features live salsa music, complimentary local bites, drinks, and presentation of the 2025 Best of the Bay winners while supporting local independent media. Cat Brooks is co-founder and executive director of Anti-Police Terror Project and Justice Teams, host of Law & Disorder on KPFA, and a longtime organizer and artivist who responds to police violence. Dean Preston is a statewide housing advocate, tenants' rights attorney, former San Francisco District 5 supervisor, and progressive champion focused on economic security and racial equity.
