Crystal Palace Museum reopening a year after it closed due to fire

The Crystal Palace Museum, closed for a year after a fire, has confirmed its reopening date. The museum is housed in one of the few surviving buildings from the original Crystal Palace and presents the history of the glass structure and its 1936 destruction by fire. Displays include objects from before the palace burned down, two large models showing key features such as water towers and original side arms, and exhibits focused on the people and goods that filled the palace. The museum will reopen on 6th–7th June from 10am to 4pm, then operate every Friday and Sunday from 10am to 4pm. Entry is free with donations accepted, and the entrance is reached via steps. It is run by volunteers, founded in 1990, and now under the Crystal Palace Park Trust, with plans to improve accessibility and redisplay its archive.

Much of the museum tells the story of the people and the wares that filled the palace before its 1936 fire.
