London library forced to briefly close after fox 'made itself comfortable' inside
Briefly

A fox made an unexpected appearance at Twickenham Library in south-west London, prompting staff to close the building temporarily for its safe removal. The curious fox was found comfortably curled up on a chair inside the library. The incident was shared on social media, highlighting the regular presence of foxes in London. Foxes have been spotted in various notable locations across the city, including Downing Street, Trafalgar Square, and even the Shard skyscraper, where one named Romeo lived among construction workers.
Richmond Council explained: 'There was an unexpected visitor to Twickenham Library yesterday when a fox decided to pop in and make themselves VERY comfortable! The Richmond Libraries team had to close the up temporarily to remove the fox.'
Foxes are a regular part of London life and the mischievous creatures have been spotted on Downing Street and even in the water fountains in Trafalgar Square.
In 2011, a fox was even discovered to be living at the top of the UK's tallest skyscraper, the Shard, surviving by eating scraps of food.
Earlier this year, it was also reported that foxes had begun to dig burrows in the soil of the rooftop garden at Google's unopened headquarters in King's Cross.
