Londoners can ride new trains on the DLR this week

Transport for London has begun rolling out new air-conditioned, walk-through trains on the Docklands Light Railway starting October 1. The rollout follows a 2023 unveiling that was delayed after technical problems caused indefinite postponements. The oldest 54 trains are being replaced by modern, higher-capacity carriages, increasing capacity per train by about 10 percent and overall DLR capacity by 50 percent once the fleet is fully replaced by the end of 2026. New trains offer bigger walkways, charging points, three wheelchair spaces, live travel information, a multi-use area for buggies, bikes and luggage, and retain the front-seat viewing position.
