On Saturday, 5th July, GWR will run a unique 7-car train between Twyford and Henley-on-Thames, coinciding with an increase in crowds due to the local regatta. Platform 1 at Henley can accommodate the longer train, while Twyford's standard platform requires a switch to Platform 4 for the special service. The busiest periods are predicted to be the morning until early afternoon and late afternoon until evening, making certain time slots the best for enthusiasts wanting to capture this rare event.
Thanks to the small town's population basically doubling for a week thanks to the regatta, GWR runs longer trains than usual on the shuttle link between Twyford and Henley-on-Thames station.
On the busiest day of the regatta, Saturday 5th July, GWR will operate a 7-car train along the line, running back and forth along the single-track line.
Platform 1 at Henley-on-Thames is 177 metres long, which is just about enough for a seven-car train, while Platform 5 at Twyford is only 110 metres long.
The busiest times will be between 0900 and 1300 towards Henley, and after 1600 until later in the evening from Henley.
