Bluewater apologises after part of shopping centre evacuated' due to false alarm
Briefly

On June 1, Bluewater Shopping Centre experienced an evacuation following a mistaken fire alarm. While some shoppers rushed out, others noted a more orderly exit. The evacuation affected a small area of the complex, and Bluewater staff managed the situation promptly despite initial chaos. A spokesperson confirmed that they'll investigate the false alarm, and they sincerely apologized to customers for the inconvenience. Kent Fire and Rescue Service was alerted but stood down as the situation was resolved quickly and the centre returned to normal operations shortly after.
We can confirm a small part of the centre was cordoned off as a precaution just after midday following a false alarm. We apologise to any guests who had their visit disrupted.
The initial alarm from Bluewater was raised in error and this was quickly communicated to crews. All parts of the centre are now back up and running as normal.
