Organisers insisted the festival would still go ahead over the next two weekends, despite the incident. About 100,000 people are expected in the town of Boom.
Images showed flames and plumes of black smoke engulfing the stage and spreading to nearby woodland, while several hundred firefighters worked to save it.
Antwerp prosecutors opened an investigation, stating the fire appeared accidental. Tomorrowland has become an internationally renowned brand, founded by two Belgian brothers 20 years ago.
