Police appeal as violin made in 1740 and worth over 150,000 is stolen from pub in Islington

A high-value violin valued at over £150,000 was stolen from The Marquess Tavern in Islington on February 18. The Metropolitan Police are investigating the theft and have released CCTV images of a suspect. The violin, over 280 years old and crafted in Florence in 1740, belongs to a member of the Philharmonia Orchestra, who described it as priceless. PC Michael Collins from the Met's local policing team in Camden stated, 'We've been working hard to try and locate the suspect and are releasing this CCTV in an effort to help identify them as soon as possible.'
The victim, a member of London's Philharmonia Orchestra, emphasized the violin's value: 'It is incredibly precious, and for the victim, it's priceless.'
