Ringo Starr Announces New Album Long Long Road, Unveils "It's Been Too Long"
"I'm blessed to have T Bone in my life right now and working with me on these records. After we did the last record, which I love listening to, this one just sort of happened. I like to say sometimes I make the right moves, like you can go left or right at any point, and one of the right moves was hooking up with T Bone for Look Up, and now for this one, which I'm calling Long Long Road, because I've been on a long long road."
"Steeped in country and Americana, the lyrics to the first single, "It's Been Too Long," can be read as a call for unity just as easily as a pining for lost love. "Yeah, it's been too long since we've listened to one another," Starr sings. "It's been too long since we dreamed mighty dreams/ It's been too long since we've floated downstream/ Together, together.""
Ringo Starr continues his country music direction with Long Long Road, produced entirely by T Bone Burnett, who also co-wrote six tracks. The 10-track album was recorded in Nashville and Los Angeles with a core band called The Texans, named after a 1959 group Starr performed with in Liverpool. The album features the lead single "It's Been Too Long" with guest vocals from Molly Tuttle and Sarah Jarosz, alongside collaborations with Billy Strings, Sheryl Crow, and St. Vincent. The project includes "I Don't See Me in Your Eyes Anymore," one of two songs Carl Perkins recorded with The Beatles. Starr credits T Bone Burnett as instrumental to his recent musical direction.
