"Judge Mark Lucraft KC said the footage showed a quite appalling litany of incidents leading up to the fatal collision, which was simply shocking. Footage showed Clarke-Samuel driving at speed and failing to stop at several red traffic lights, the court was told. He repeatedly veered onto the wrong side of the road, mounted the curb, and collided with a motorcyclist and a Mercedes."
Grime artist Ghetts, whose real name is Justin Clarke-Samuel, was sentenced to 12 years imprisonment and disqualified from driving for 17 years after causing the death of Nepalese national Yubin Tamang, 20, in a hit-and-run incident in north-east London. CCTV footage revealed Clarke-Samuel was driving at excessive speed while under the influence of alcohol, repeatedly veering onto the wrong side of the road, running red traffic lights, mounting curbs, and colliding with other vehicles before fatally striking Tamang. He failed to stop at the scene. Judge Mark Lucraft KC described the footage as showing an appalling sequence of dangerous driving incidents leading to the fatal collision.
