O hAnnaidh, who performs under the stage name Mo Chara, has been charged over the alleged display of a flag in support of Hezbollah at a gig at the O2 Forum.
The group have said thousands of people are on a waiting list for tickets to the show which they also claim sold out 'in seconds'.
In a statement issued on Thursday morning the west Belfast group claimed the charge was 'political policing' adding that they would 'vehemently defend' themselves.
A Met spokesperson said a policing plan is in place around tonight's event to ensure it passes off safely, there have been no issues or arrests.
