Speed limits to be cut in 'many' more London streets as TfL funds new cycle and bus lanes and e-bike bays
Briefly

Transport for London (TfL) has announced an allocation of £87.6 million to improve cycling, bus, and pedestrian infrastructure across London for the upcoming financial year. This investment, an increase from last year, aims to facilitate safer streets, including borough-wide 20mph speed limits in some areas. However, 14 boroughs will not receive any funding. The initiative aims to promote Vision Zero, targeting the elimination of deaths and serious injuries on transport networks by 2041, through various projects including new cycleways and school streets. The execution of these plans depends on consistent future funding.
The funding, amounting to £87.6m, aims to create safer streets across London with an emphasis on cycle lanes, bus lanes, pedestrian crossings, and school streets.
While many boroughs are set to benefit from the funding, 14 boroughs, including Bexley and Bromley, will not receive any investment for safer streets.
With an overallocation of funds, Transport for London aims to enhance Vision Zero, targeting a reduction in serious transport-related injuries and deaths by 2041.
The plan will see an expansion of 222 school street projects, 265 new pedestrian crossings, and high-priority improvements for buses and cycleways across the capital.
