Two Wicklow buildings set for derelict register in town under An Taisce scrutiny
Wicklow County Council confirmed that only two buildings in Arklow will be added to the Derelict Sites Register. The update was provided during the May monthly meeting after concerns were raised about the status of five buildings identified in an An Taisce assessment. The assessment had criticized persistent under-enforcement of dereliction legislation and failure to use statutory powers to address neglected properties. The council reported that 18 sites were inspected, with five potentially derelict. Notices have been served for two properties, which will be entered onto the register. Two Main Street properties completed works, and the fifth site at no. 56 has ongoing works while future options are being considered.
