Brook House in Acton, west London, will become the UK's first housing block dedicated solely to women, offering 102 affordable social rented flats. This initiative is a response to the pressing need for housing, particularly for women and survivors of domestic abuse. Ealing Council has over 600 single women on its waiting list and 8,000 households waiting for homes. Women's Pioneer Housing will manage the site, aiming to provide secure, affordable housing while setting a standard for other providers to support the welfare of single women. Construction is set to be completed by next summer.
"There is a big need for this type of housing, and it will provide a lifeline for women who are struggling with various challenges, particularly domestic abuse."
