In Greenwich, two businesses were penalized for selling vapes to minors, highlighted by two incidents where teenage test purchasers were sold products at UZI Mobile and Vape and Thamesmead Post Office. Alongside this, alcohol sales violations were uncovered, with 385 illegal sales recorded at the post office, culminating in a loss of its alcohol license. The offenders were convicted and fined over £10,000. The council emphasizes a strong stance against sales to children, especially given the impending ban on disposable vapes in the area.
This is another example of the council's no-tolerance approach to the illegal sale of vapes to children. Nicotine vapes are highly addictive and should only be used by adults to help them stop smoking.
Despite claiming he was not in control of UZI Mobile and Vape, the court found Nasir Ahmad was still legally responsible for failing to prevent underage sales.
