Santee defeated Hawkins 35-6 to win the City Section Division III championship. Senior running back Darnell Miller rushed for 190 yards and three touchdowns, adding to a season that began with 3,103 yards and 37 touchdowns and a 15.1 yards-per-carry average. Quarterback Daynian Alvarado ran for two touchdowns. Miller's 10-year-old brother Frederick watches from the sideline; Miller picks him up from school and brings him to practice daily. Santee finished the playoffs dominant, beating four opponents by an average margin of 29 points and ending the season with a 10-4 record.
