Why you should avoid these airport gas stations when traveling in Mexico
Briefly

While returning a rented car at Los Cabos International Airport, I opted for a Gasolinera Pemex to experience local culture. However, I soon learned that the attendants at local gas stations have garnered a notorious reputation for credit card fraud. During my visit, two attendants distracted me with friendly conversation while deceptively managing to double swipe my card, resulting in unauthorized charges. This encounter emphasizes the importance of vigilance, especially when dealing with unfamiliar situations abroad.
In the final hours of a recent trip to the Baja California Peninsula, I found myself at the final place on my Mexican tourist itinerary: Gasolinera Pemex off Highway 1 near the airport.
I'd soon discover that it wouldn't matter which gas station I'd select because, if there's one thing these stations by the airport all have in common, it's that the attendants have a reputation for credit card fraud.
