"The first season is not easy, because everything is brand new, head coach Davide Corti told amNewYork. New people together need to know each other better, sometimes through hard times, sometimes with easy times."
"[It's a huge boost for us] to have a stadium to call our own, for it to be our home, for us to have access to do a lot of the community events and activations that we want to do, Stover, the former Red Bull New York executive who brought Thierry Henry to the MLS, told amNY. There's so much history, and this location is fantastic all of that plays in very nicely for our long-term plan."
The Cosmos, a legendary soccer organization with a storied history featuring iconic players like Pelé and Franz Beckenbauer, have relocated to Paterson, New Jersey, and begun their first season in USL League One. The team removed 'New York' from its name to reflect its new home at Hinchliffe Stadium, a 7,800-seat venue originally constructed in 1932 that hosted the Negro Leagues' New York Black Yankees. Head coach Davide Corti acknowledged the challenges of building team cohesion with new personnel. CEO and co-owner Erik Stover, instrumental in the Cosmos' revival since 2012, emphasized the significance of having a dedicated home stadium for community engagement and long-term organizational goals.
