Four Marine League football coaches forfeited games against Narbonne last season to protest alleged rule violations in Narbonne's program. A Narbonne booster, Brett Steigh, admitted paying parents to transfer players to Narbonne. An LAUSD investigation found a group of Narbonne players were ineligible, and the City Section imposed a three-year playoff ban on Narbonne. Coaches who forfeited faced district repercussions, strained relationships with school officials, and contributed to resignations. Steigh also helped finance St. Bernard's and had admitted involvement in the Bishop Montgomery scandal that ended that team's season. Coaches say the forfeits were necessary to stop off-field violations.
