Metrolink train and semi collide in Moorpark, killing truck's driver
Briefly

A tragic accident occurred when a semi-truck collided with a Metrolink train in Moorpark, leading to the death of the truck driver and injuries to a passenger. The incident took place at a private farm crossing, where safety signs typically instruct drivers to be cautious. The train remained upright, but service disruptions followed, prompting Metrolink to offer alternative transportation options. Further investigation is needed to determine the cause of the collision as safety protocols were in place at the crossing.
The truck driver was pronounced dead at the scene, and one of the train's 11 passengers was transported to a local hospital for treatment in unknown condition.
The truck was severely damaged in the collision. A section of the vehicle was pushed one-third of a mile down the track, said Fire Department spokesperson Andy VanSciver.
Train crossings on agricultural land in Ventura County are typically marked with stop signs and signs directing drivers to look both ways.
As a result of the collision, Metrolink service that regularly operates to Ventura East Station was only operating as far as Moorpark.
