"However, one has to take into consideration that the Blue Jays were the only team to offer a long-term deal to Tucker. In doing so, it would have given him job security over the next ten years without worrying about injuries or potential performance drop-offs. After all, Tucker was coming off a down season in 2025 with the Chicago Cubs in which he saw his overall offensive numbers fall a bit below his career averages across the board."

The Los Angeles Dodgers signed Kyle Tucker to a four-year, $240 million deal after the New York Mets reportedly offered four years for $220 million. The Toronto Blue Jays offered Tucker a 10-year contract worth $350 million in total, producing a lower annual average than rival offers. Competing teams reportedly offered roughly $55–60 million AAV while the Blue Jays' offer equated to about $35 million AAV. The long-term Blue Jays offer would have provided decade-long job security. Tucker entered free agency after a down 2025 season with the Chicago Cubs, with offensive numbers slightly below his career averages.
