Chicago White Sox's Luis Robert Jr. displaying his all-around game: 'It's just the confidence that he brings'
Briefly

Luis Robert Jr. delivered several spectacular defensive plays at Rate Field, including a diving catch to end the third inning and another diving grab in the fifth. He tracked down a hard-hit ball in the ninth with a running adjustment to record the second out. The White Sox won 8-0. Robert went 1-for-4 with a run and entered Monday with a seven-game hitting streak, going 9-for-29 (.310) with two home runs and six RBIs during the stretch. Manager Will Venable praised his improved jumps and athleticism. Teammate Davis Martin called him the best player he has played with.
"Every outfielder is different," Robert said through an interpreter Sunday of his approach to executing diving catches. "I'm the kind that I start slow and develop speed as I go. There are others who are different. "To me, it's just trying to track the ball and get to the ball whatever it takes."
"It seemed like he was on a mission to not let anything fall," manager Will Venable said after the 8-0 victory. "We've seen him make good plays. To see three or four that he made (Sunday), in some big spots, was awesome. "He's been getting better jumps out there, which is something that he's been working on. And obviously when the ball's in the air, his athleticism gives him a chance to cover a lot of ground."
