Shohei Ohtani delivered five innings with nine strikeouts, allowing one run on two hits and two walks in a 5-1 victory. The lone run against him came on a Noelvi Marte solo home run in the third. Ohtani ignited a four-run fourth with a leadoff single, and the inning included key hits from Teoscar Hernández, Andy Pages, Kiké Hernández, and Dalton Rushing. Michael Conforto added a solo homer in the eighth. Three rookies — Jack Dreyer, Justin Wrobleski and Edgardo Henriquez — tossed scoreless relief innings before Blake Treinen closed with three strikeouts. The Dodgers recorded 19 strikeouts, their most in a nine-inning game since 2015, and started a four-game winning streak.
Shohei Ohtani lead the Los Angeles Dodgers to a sweep over the Cincinnati Reds as the two-way player struck out nine hitters and scored a run in the 5-1 victory. Ohtani made it through five innings, allowing just one run on two hits while walking two. The only run he allowed came in the third inning when he allowed a solo shot to Noelvi Marte that put the Reds up 1-0.
Ohtani also started the Dodgers' four-run inning in the fourth inning with a leadoff single. That was followed by singles from Teoscar Hernández and Andy Pages to load the bases with one out. Kiké Hernández then delivered by driving in two runs with a single. Miguel Rojas was intentionally walked to load the bases again, and Dalton Rushing singled home two more runs to put the Dodgers up 4-1.
Following Ohtani, the Dodgers relied on three rookies to get them to the ninth inning. Jack Dreyer pitched the sixth, Justin Wrobleski had the seventh and Edgardo Henriquez took the eighth, each of them pitching a scoreless inning. Wrobleski did run into trouble by allowing two hits and a walk in his inning, but got out of it with two strikeouts.
