Will there be another big addition for the Braves?
"Well, the Braves plugged their starting shortstop hole with Ha-Seong Kim. Are they spent out, other than minor reliever-type moves? I asked about another sizable reliever deal earlier, but the offseason isn't quite over, so really, we're just talking about the title at this point: is it going to be relatively quiet from now until Spring Training begins, or is there going to be another move in the works?"
"The last thing to add would be a starter, in theory. This Front Office has surprised us with totally unexpected stuff before, but a relatively reliable arm could be useful for a rotation that's, to a man, recovering from injury in some fashion. That might also help them feel better about clearing away some of the out-of-options guys (like Bryce Elder) in a move that buys them some flexibility."
Ha-Seong Kim fills the Braves' starting shortstop need, leaving the offseason outlook uncertain beyond minor reliever moves. There remains a possibility of another sizable reliever acquisition, since the offseason is not finished. A starting pitcher addition would be the most impactful remaining upgrade, providing rotation depth for arms recovering from injury. Adding a reliable starter could permit the Braves to clear out out-of-options pitchers such as Bryce Elder to gain roster flexibility. The front office has previously made unexpected moves, so further activity before spring training cannot be ruled out, though a quiet close to the offseason is also plausible.
