Manchester City signed goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma from Paris Saint-Germain on a long-term contract for nearly €40 million. The 26-year-old will wear the number 99 shirt. City had previously added James Trafford but opted to bring in another goalkeeper after Trafford experienced a shaky start at the Etihad. Long-standing number one Ederson moved to Fenerbahce. Donnarumma joins other summer signings including Tiijani Reijnders, Rayan Cherki and Rayan Ait Nouri. Donnarumma was part of PSG's Champions League-winning squad and was Italy's goalkeeper when they won Euro 2020. Donnarumma said he is proud and promises to give everything to help achieve more success.
"To have signed for Manchester City is such a special and proud moment for me," he said. "I am joining a squad packed with world-class talent and a team led by the one of the greatest managers in the history of football in Pep Guardiola. This is a club every player in world football would love to join. "I have admired watching Manchester City for many years - so to now be able to play for the club is a huge honour and a privilege."
