Ruben Dias has signed a two-year contract extension with Manchester City, extending his deal to 2029 with an additional one-year option. The 28-year-old joined from Benfica in 2020 for £65m and won the Premier League Player of the Year in his debut season. Dias has become a defensive cornerstone under Pep Guardiola, contributing to four league titles, the Champions League, the FA Cup and the EFL Cup across five seasons. He described Manchester as his home and expressed loyalty to the fans and the club. City now plan contract talks with several senior players while Rico Lewis nears a five-year deal.
I am incredibly happy today. I love Manchester - it is my home now - and I love the Manchester City fans. When I think about the trophies we have won and the way we have played our football during my time here, I couldn't imagine playing anywhere else.
