Alexander Isak arrives at Anfield for medical ahead of record 125million move to Liverpool

Liverpool agreed a late transfer to sign 25-year-old Alexander Isak from Newcastle after a rejected £110m offer in August. The striker had not trained with or played for Newcastle since the failed bid and was left out of their Asia tour with a reported thigh injury, later training alone at former club Real Sociedad. He accused Newcastle of breaking a commitment that he could leave for a big club. Newcastle accepted that he no longer wanted to play for them and agreed the transfer, which includes a £5m loyalty payment taking the fee up to £130m. Isak becomes Liverpool's eighth summer signing amid total spending around £416m.
The Reds had a £110m offer rejected in August and since then the 25-year-old has not trained with or played for Newcastle, but in the final hours of the transfer window a deal has been reached to end the impasse. The striker arrived at Anfield to undergo a medical on Monday, with Newcastle relenting by accepting the player does not want to play for them any longer. United also announced the signing of striker Nick Woltemade on Saturday.
