Everton played to a 2-2 draw with Manchester United in a competitive pre-season match. United took a controversial early lead via a penalty converted by Bruno Fernandes. Everton equalized when Iliman Ndiaye scored from a cross by Idrissa Gana Gueye. Manchester United retook the lead through a goal from Mason Mount. After changes by Everton, an unintentional touch off an attempted clearance from Amad enabled Everton to score the equalizer.
The visitors took an early lead in the Summer Series in a controversial fashion, after being awarded a soft penalty when James Tarkowski was adjudged to have brought down Amad Diallo.
Everton responded positively, with Vitalii Mykolenko playing a key role in the equaliser through a perfect ball to the back post, where Iliman Ndiaye smashed home.
In the 80th minute, a moment of madness handed Everton an unexpected equaliser, as the ball was worked out wide after Fernandes lost possession and an attempted clearance cannoned off.
