Martinez is established, experienced in the Premier League, strong, imposing, and a proven shot-stopper who could make an immediate impact at Manchester United. United's recruitment still lists goalkeeper options and a return for Martinez is considered plausible. Completing a January transfer would be difficult because Aston Villa are unlikely to want to lose their established first-choice goalkeeper midseason.
