"In 2026, Jezebel is entering its 19th year of existence, and in order to keep rebuilding toward our future, we've been digging through our past to see what might be worth resurrecting. And while we despise the trolls, we love our commenters-and the community the Jezebel comments section fostered so many moons ago. So, starting right now-this is literally the post you're reading-we're launching "Comment of the Week.""
"If it goes well and we're all having fun, maybe we'll return to "Comment of the Day," but for now, we're starting with Fridays only. This week's winner-which is technically a comment from 2025-is from Aneural, who left this gem on "Jezebel's Top 25 Stories of 2025." Weird, this list reminded me of the Cannibal Witch articles from a couple of years ago. Yet, no mention of witches in here... like if there was a really big witch-shaped hole in this list."
Jezebel enters its 19th year and is revisiting past content to decide what to revive. The site rejects trolls and emphasizes appreciation for commenters and the community the comments section created. A new feature, "Comment of the Week," will run every Friday and highlight the comment that provoked the hardest laugh or deepest thought. Racist, sexist, bigoted, homophobic, transphobic, or otherwise mean comments will be excluded and reported. If successful, the feature may expand back to a daily format. The first featured comment, from Aneural in 2025, referenced the Cannibal Witch pieces. Readers are invited to subscribe for ad-free access and other benefits for $5 monthly or $50 yearly to support independent journalism.
