""Too many leaders find themselves at the midpoint of their careers, or in senior positions, without leadership training. This program provides a space where they can learn from peers and Poynter facilitators about what makes a great leader, mentor, manager and coach.""
""Leadership is one of the most rewarding and most challenging parts of a journalist's career, and often, one of the loneliest. What we create in this academy is a space where people don't have to carry that weight alone.""
The Poynter Institute's 2026 Leadership Academy will take place from April 20-24 in St. Petersburg, Florida. The program aims to develop human-centered leadership skills among journalists. Participants will engage in ethical decision-making, team building, and managing diverse generations. A competitive selection process ensured a diverse cohort. The program includes a 360-degree feedback assessment and a Gallup CliftonStrengths report. Faculty members emphasize the importance of leadership training for journalists at various career stages, fostering connections and skill development.
