Sinclair announced it will end its preemption of Jimmy Kimmel Live! and resume airing the show on its ABC affiliates starting tonight. Sinclair had preempted the program while pressing ABC and Disney for an independent ombudsman and other accountability measures and praised FCC Chairman Brendan Carr's criticism of the show. Sinclair said the preemption was independent of government interaction but cited broad feedback from viewers, advertisers, and community leaders and concern over lost advertising dollars in reversing the decision. Sinclair noted ABC and Disney have not adopted the proposed measures and moved a planned Kirk remembrance special to YouTube.
