Real-life Ratchet NJ nurse pepper-sprayed 87-yr-old dementia patient: cops
Briefly

Lisa Erikson, a licensed practical nurse in New Jersey, allegedly used pepper spray on an elderly dementia patient at Whiting Gardens Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. The incident occurred after Erikson claimed the patient was destroying property. However, surveillance footage showed the patient was not behaving aggressively at the time of the attack. Following the use of pepper spray, the patient remained unattended and without medical aid for over 45 minutes. Police launched an investigation due to the severity of the incident, raising questions about Erikson's actions and the treatment of vulnerable patients.
Officers rolled up to the home, and Erikson explained she had to use pepper spray on the dementia patient...to de-escalate the situation.
The video showed the patient damaging property...before walking down the hallway in a manner that did not appear aggressive.
Ms. Erikson is then seen approaching the patient from behind and deploying pepper spray directly to his face at extremely close range.
The pepper-sprayed man was left in his room without any medical aid for more than 45 minutes, cops alleged.
