3D-printed coral reefs can help protect coastline - Yanko Design
Briefly

Miami is innovating in the fight against climate change with the BIOCAP project, which involves creating 3D-printed coral reefs. These artificial structures not only provide habitats for marine life but also act as natural seawalls, mitigating coastal erosion and protecting low-lying areas from storm surges. Designed by researchers at Florida International University, these reefs address the significant threats posed by rising sea temperatures and ocean acidification that jeopardize natural coral ecosystems.
