Rex Heuermann, an architect from Long Island, pleaded guilty to seven murders linked to the Gilgo Beach killings and admitted to an eighth murder. Heuermann was arrested in July 2023 and had been held in custody since. His victims, primarily sex workers, were found in marshland along Long Island's coast. Evidence leading to his identification included a discarded pizza crust and DNA matches. Heuermann confessed to luring victims with money, strangling them, and disposing of their bodies in burlap sacks. He acknowledged his intent to kill during a two-year period.
