"Welp! Around this time last year, we were keeping tabs on what other teams in the NL Wild Card race were getting up to as our Atlanta Braves were right in the thick of a topsy-turvy race to the Postseason that culminated with a dramatic doubleheader that took place the Monday after the regular season ended for the other big league clubs."
"There will be no such drama for the Braves here in 2025. As fate would have it, this year's Braves squad has been doomed to failure and are nowhere near where they would've figured they would've (or should've) been once this time of the season was coming around. Instead of fighting for their Postseason lives, they will now be playing for ping-pong balls (or whatever MLB uses in their process) in next season's MLB Draft Lottery."
"Nick Gonzales got the Pirates off to a good start in this one with an RBI triple that plated two Buccos. He then made it home on a Wild Pitch to make it 3-0. Things were going well! Those happy feelings lasted for all of 10 minutes as Washington responded with three runs in the bottom of the second to tie it up at three."
The Atlanta Braves finished the regular season at 66-83 and currently hold the fourth-best odds in the 2025 MLB Draft Lottery. The Braves are out of postseason contention and may swap draft-lottery positions with several struggling clubs, including the Pittsburgh Pirates, Minnesota Twins, Baltimore Orioles, Miami Marlins, and Sacramento Athletics. In Pittsburgh's recent game, Nick Gonzales hit an RBI triple that plated two runs and later scored on a wild pitch to make it 3-0. Washington scored three in the second to tie, and the Nationals won late after a leadoff walk by James Wood and a double from Daylen Lile.
