Nineteen Buddhist monks and their rescue dog Aloka are walking from Fort Worth, Texas, to Washington, D.C., to promote peace, kindness, and compassion. The planned route covers about 2,300 miles across 10 states and is scheduled to take roughly 120 days. The walk began October 26, 2025, at the Huong Dao Vipassana Bhavana Center and is expected to end in mid-February. The group walks 20 to 30 miles per day and accepts donations and volunteers. Social media followings exceed half a million on Facebook and over 600,000 on Instagram. In November, a traffic incident near Houston injured two monks and led to a senior monk undergoing an amputation.
