Carbon tax blamed as petrol and diesel prices rise again at the pumps
"We've seen a clear rise in petrol and diesel prices this month and that's going to be felt immediately by motorists who rely on their cars every day. Even small increases add up quickly, especially as families face higher seasonal expenses heading into winter."
"With both fuel and energy prices moving in the wrong direction, every cent matters. These sharper increases come at a time when many households are already facing higher winter costs, making fuel spend an even larger portion of weekly budgets."
Petrol in Ireland rose to €1.74 per litre, up from €1.72, while diesel increased by 4c to €1.72 per litre. Both fuels also rose in October. EV home-charging costs and pay-as-you-go rates remained stable after October increases. There are an estimated close to 100,000 EV passenger cars in the country. Several electricity suppliers including Bord Gáis Energy, Energia, Pinergy, SSE Airtricity and Flogas increased tariffs recently, which could raise EV running costs for drivers on night-rate or 24-hour plans. Small fuel and energy price rises increase pressure on motorists who depend on vehicles for work, school runs and commuting, especially ahead of winter seasonal expenses.
