"The next phase of the council's wide-ranging transport plan for the city centre is due to come into effect over the course of the year. A major focus will be on cycling infrastructure, with Dublin City Council (DCC) planning to begin construction on 13 new active travel projects by the end of the year. These include the final section of the Dodder Greenway from Milltown Road to Dundrum Road, on which works will begin in the summer,"
"All of the bus routes that currently use College Green will be completely rerouted away from the historic area by the summer, according to the council. The change, which will affect several high-frequency bus routes such as the 16, 13 and 27, will pave the way for the redesigned plaza, the design of which is expected to be revealed by DCC next month."
Dublin City Council will implement the next phase of the city centre transport plan this year with a strong emphasis on cycling infrastructure, beginning construction on 13 active travel projects. Works will include the final Dodder Greenway section from Milltown Road to Dundrum Road, the North Circular Road scheme between Dorset Street Lower and Amiens Street, and two-way cycle lanes on Gardiner Street that reduce car lanes. All bus routes using College Green will be rerouted away by summer to enable a pedestrianised plaza from Trinity College to George's Street. The first BusConnects corridor to Liffey Valley will begin construction soon, followed by the Ballymun-Finglas corridor later in the year. A revamp of Dún Laoghaire harbour is also planned.
