Andrej Babis presented President Petr Pavel with his proposed cabinet list, including Filip Turek as environment minister, nominated by the euroskeptic Motorists for Themselves party. Mr. Turek, an ex-racing driver, has faced intense scrutiny over allegedly racist, sexist and homophobic Facebook posts, reported Hitler salutes and an incident involving a Saudi diplomat and a spent ammunition cartridge. The Motorists originally proposed Turek for foreign minister and party leader Petr Macinka for environment minister, but the names were swapped at the last minute. President Pavel stated he does not think Mr. Turek should join the cabinet, and Mr. Babis said he will consult his coalition ally while candidates are interviewed over the next two weeks.
