A 25th joint cabinet meeting in Toulon sought to replace frosty ties with cooperation amid pine trees, local wine, and shared dinners. Europe faces urgent challenges requiring a functioning Franco-German motor, including the Ukraine war, trade tensions with the US, and disputes over defence, energy, and the future of European policy. Political will for change is reportedly growing.
